Chris Nelson

Physiotherapist - Cordova Bay & James Bay

Areas of Expertise:

Persistent or Chronic Pain, Shoulder, Hip and Knee Injuries, Neck and Back Pain, Athletes and Return to Sport, Running Injuries, Kids and Older Adults.

Chris is proud to be born and raised in Bella Coola, BC. He played every sport possible and learned at an early age that he can be a bit injury-prone (his loving wife, also a physiotherapist, has diagnosed him as “sprainy”). Recovery from his many, many ailments led to an early interest in physical therapy and rehabilitation. He has since developed a passion for helping his patients navigate and overcome their fears around movement and pain.

Chris graduated from UVIC with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2006 and a went on to complete a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the UofA in 2010. Chris returned to Victoria after graduating and has practiced in various private physiotherapy clinics on the South Island as well as the base hospital at CFB Esquimalt. He loves to work with athletes and weekend warriors, kids and older adults and has a particular interest in persistent pain. Chris has taken many courses over the years, including IMS and various manual therapy courses.

Chris’ treatment approach emphasizes clear communication, education and exercise therapy aimed at empowering people recovering from acute injury or managing chronic pain. When Chris is not working, he is usually baking with his daughter, walking a dog, going for (what he calls) runs, or recovering from his own basketball, sleeping or parenting injuries.
