Dr. Caley Flynn - MD, FRCPC

Dr. Caley Flynn MD, FRCPC is an Emergency Medicine physician working at Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals and has a passion for preventative medicine. She completed her medical degree through the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program in Victoria, then went on to complete her specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a clinical instructor in the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine.

  • Outside of work Caley enjoys anything outdoors and active. But above all, she spends as much time as possible enjoying the company of her husband, 2 young children, and dog, who share a similar enthusiasm for an active outdoor lifestyle. Caley is passionate about fitness and nutrition, and has long been interested in lifestyle interventions as they pertain to illness prevention and management. She is excited about the opportunity to apply this passion in the field of longevity medicine.

Mathew Oakley - Strength & Conditioning COACH

Mathew is a licensed Kinesiologist and an expert in Strength and Conditioning. He boasts a wealth of experience in training high-performance athletes, managing chronic pain, facilitating injury rehabilitation, and offering personal training services. With a curious and scientific approach, he specializes in designing exercise regimens that promote longevity. He has undergone extensive training in exercise physiology, including V02 max and Lactate testing.

  • In his role as your Strength & Conditioning Coach, Mat will offer personalized training, and tailored exercise programs. Exercise is one of our program's cornerstone elements, and Mat will work closely with you to create a customized exercise plan that suits your needs. Throughout this journey, he'll ensure accountability and infuse fun into your fitness regimen.

Megan Van Heyningen - Longevity Coach

Megan holds a degree in Exercise and Wellness, a Nutrition Coaching certification, and is in the final stages of completing her certification in Change Psychology. She has gone through comprehensive training in behavioural science, allowing her to be uniquely equipped to assist clients in establishing healthy habits, mitigating unwanted ones, adhering to treatment plans, and formulating concrete action plans to obtain their health goals.

  • Within the framework of the Longevity Program, Meg's primary role is to guide and support you in various crucial aspects of health that we know significantly contribute to longevity. While her specialty lies in optimizing and coaching you with nutrition, she also collaborates with you to evaluate and enhance your sleep and build stress resiliency. Additionally, she assumes the role of your accountability coach, ensuring regular check-ins to monitor your progress within the program.

Monika Johnston-Stewart - Nutrition & Integrated Health Coach

Monika is a pro at cooking delicious and nutritious meals. Available only in Tier 3, she will meet you, or any family member, at the grocery store and in your kitchen to teach her cooking secrets with a private cooking class in your home! Monika can also set up your environment for success by working with you to go through your pantry and fridge to cleanse both of any foods that aren’t helping you achieve your goals.

  • She knows that one of the most effective ways to improve eating habits is changing your environment to make eating healthy the path of least resistance. Before your appointment, she will connect with you to discuss what you want to get out of your sessions together. Expect to have fun and eat some good food!

Evan Carey - Health Researcher

Evan is an honours kinesiology graduate and lifelong health promoter. Throughout his degree, Evan maintained a focus on cognitive neuroscience and completed an honours thesis in this field. A natural curiosity continues to guide him and motivate his efforts in research.

  • His years competing as a national team track cyclist gives away his commitment to “optimizing”. Some might call him a perfectionist, but in Evan’s view, he simply has high standards. These standards energize his search and appraisal of the literature, and as a result he uncovers the “best understanding” of things.

This is a superpower for his team. Although clients do not have direct contact with Evan, he informs the rest of us on the latest developments in the field of longevity medicine and can help dig through the research if a client has an enquiry that requires a deep dive.

Testimonials

  • "By journaling how I feel and what I ate, I was able to observe when my blood sugar is even I overall feel better. It was helpful to actually 'see' how exercise, hydration, and eating well impacted me. It also helped me identify some eating patterns to work on, such as snacking in the afternoon vs having a meal. The CGM makes it impossible to fool yourself!"

    Tier 2 Member

    Tier 2 Member

  • Longevity medicine is proactive, preventative medicine that focuses on delaying the onset of chronic illnesses for as long as possible, so you can maintain your ability to live a full life. This approach, rooted in principles of Medicine 3.0, as popularized by Peter Attia, aims to extend not just lifespan but also healthspan—the number of years you remain healthy and free from disease. Much of what predicts how long a person will live and how healthy they’ll be is under their control, making prevention and early intervention key components in optimizing long-term health.

  • Our longevity program is for motivated people who are keen to optimize their health, including making changes to their habits and physical activity.

This is not an “anti-aging” solution. There is no quick fix when it comes to improving your healthspan. It usually takes changes to optimize your exercise, sleep, nutrition, and emotional health. With an investment in proactive screening and testing, our longevity medicine program and specialized team can help you mitigate your risk and prevent chronic disease.

  • We’re a team of experts in wellness and longevity medicine. We scan the literature (science & research) that’s out there, figure out what actually works, and update our strategy based on that. Wherever possible, we design our program around hard, evidence-based, best practices. We go beyond “pop science” and current evidence by thinking critically. We question everything and never take recommendations for granted.

A science-based approach means taking the best available evidence, making hypotheses and testing those hypotheses as we go. Longevity science is young, and robust support for every intervention is limited. That means we take an educated guess, and keep a close eye on things to make sure they are working.

As an added layer, we compare trends and data against your individual scores to ensure that a particular course of action makes sense for you. The best program is the one that you feel good about and engage in. We marry science with humanity to help you successfully integrate healthy habits into your daily life.

  • There are no real shortcuts to good health. We believe you will get out what you put in.

The personalized interventions our team suggests will vary based on your metrics, goals, and motivation. Expect to move more, eat better, test yourself, and have regular visits with the Longevity Physician.

  • There are certainly people who can tackle this without our help. We’re here to help make the process easier, more efficient and effective. We recognize that knowing what to do is not enough to do it. Our programming is meant to help you address hard-to-change behaviours.

We’ve already sifted through the evidence - so you don’t have to. Based on our ongoing research, learning, and evaluation, we can help you put best practices into action. Beyond that, we are experts in our fields, and we’re available to help you understand your current level of health and potential risks so you can take steps to optimize your health and live longer. We’re your support system and clinical team combined. We’ll help you put a plan in place and make sure you reach your goals.

  • The Longevity Program is not eligible for MSP coverage. Some insurance providers may cover certain services in the program, but you’ll need to check with your provider to confirm.

If you have a health spending account through work (or another organization), fees for the Longevity Program are often an eligible expense. Check with your employer or provider to confirm.

  • To make our program more accessible, we offer the option to pay in installments. However, this is not a monthly subscription; instead, it's a payment plan for the entire year-long program. By committing to a full year, you gain long-term benefits while enjoying the flexibility of installment payments.

  • Yes, every patient enrolled in our program will have a consult letter sent from our longevity doctors to your physician, ensuring they are informed about your enrollment, the treatments we provide, and what we do not cover. We take full responsibility for your testing and medications—we are not shifting this onto your GP. However, we prioritize keeping your doctor in the loop to ensure seamless communication. We understand the current strain on the healthcare system, and our goal is to support both primary care providers and patients by making the healthcare experience as smooth and coordinated as possible.

  • No problem! We offer comprehensive medical assessments, and you can opt for just our metrics phase as a standalone service. If you later decide you'd like to continue, you can easily transition into the full program at any time.

  • Chronic Illness: We don’t specifically investigate pre-existing health conditions unless they’re identified during our program assessments.

Comorbidities: Our focus is on proactive pre-screening and management of comorbidities that impact longevity and overall health.

Pre-existing Conditions: For conditions like IBS, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, joint pain, musculoskeletal injuries, skin conditions, and food sensitivities, while they aren’t directly treated within our program, we’re happy to refer you to the appropriate specialist within the Tall Tree network to ensure you receive the support you need.

Our program is dedicated to aggressive screening and proactive testing, evaluating your current health status and providing targeted lifestyle and/or pharmaceutical interventions to combat the Four Horsemen of chronic disease: cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome.

  • If recommended by our longevity physician and supported by your metrics, we will intervene and connect you with the appropriate specialist. Any prescriptions initiated within the program will be closely monitored and managed throughout your participation. Medication is just one of the tools we use to help optimize your healthspan and overall well-being.

  • Absolutely! We can tailor this to be a shared experience, allowing you to journey through life and enhance your longevity together as a couple.
