Mathew is a registered Kinesiologist practicing at the Cordova Bay location. His experience working with a broad range of populations, including high-performance athletes, chronic pain, rehabilitation, and personal training clients, has laid the foundation for his playful curiosity and creative approach. Continuously learning and growing, Mathew is currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice with the Canadian School of Osteopathy and return to work Functional Capacity Evaluation training to complement his movement knowledge.
An active lifestyle growing up in the Eastern Townships of Quebec provided lots of opportunities to develop an appreciation for the outdoors. Mathew later accepted an offer to attend the University of Toronto as part of the varsity men's hockey program. He acquired a bachelor of science in Kinesiology and a passion for health and high performance.
A career-ending injury altered hopes of becoming a professional athlete and transferred Mathew's focus to understanding what was next for him, healing, increasing resilience, and going beyond performance optimization. A lifelong learner and curious mind, he is eager to learn something from every situation life throws at him. A firm believer in enjoying the process, he has made it a goal to explore multiple forms of health modalities personally. Testing out options to gain first-hand patient experience has fueled his passion for a career, helping other folks reach their ideal versions of health while proactively pursuing personal health through the post-athletic career transition.
Mathew's goal is to educate, facilitate and empower those he interacts with to strive for the freedom of a life beyond a lack of symptoms. Whether it be as a high-performance athlete, someone seeking to learn more about pain management, or taking on a new life challenge, he works with the person as a whole and not just their symptoms.
Constantly in motion, he walks the talk. If Mat isn't working, studying, or teaching, you can find him recharging while enjoying the island life on a trail, running, hiking or rock climbing, and sometimes baking.
