Firmly embracing the power of the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client, she believes in the inherent healing capacity and in-born vitality of the human spirit. Alison offers unconditional positive regard, warmth, and compassion to clients, aiming to support their unique goals and needs.

Alison works with people of all ages who are facing the challenges and struggles of life. Her areas of practice include supporting people with issues such as chronic stress, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, post-partum mental health, parenting challenges, and work-life balance. She is particularly interested in working with people who are long-term primary caregivers to loved ones with special needs and/or disabilities, serious illness or injury.

Alison’s therapeutic practice draws from evidence-based methods such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) and Music Therapy, along with person-centered and strengths-based approaches. Alison considers cultural humility to be essential to therapeutic practice.

In addition to her work as a mental health counsellor, she is an experienced artist, musician and music educator who teaches therapeutic piano and voice lessons. In her free time, Alison enjoys reading, playing piano, singing, long walks outside, cooking, cuddling with her closest friends, and being with her magnificent husband and daughter.
